What to Expect
You will have an opportunity to discuss the first session on the phone prior to making your appointment. Have available any insurance or EAP information, your schedule, and pen and paper while making the initial call. Please be sure to provide at least 48 hours notice if you can’t make your scheduled appointment.
In-person clients can either download a new client packet found at Downloads or come to the office 15 minutes before the first appointment and a packet will be provided. A more detailed explanation of services and policies is available in the client handbook found in the office lobby. Most important documents from the handbook are available at Downloads. *NOTE* In-person sessions are currently unavailable due to coronavirus.
Paperwork, policies, and services will be discussed during the first visit. An interview assessment is then conducted in the beginning of counseling which helps generate goals. Sessions typically last about 45-50 minutes but may vary depending on the service provided. If applicable, out-of-pocket fees such as self-pay, copays, or deductible payments are expected before each session. Cash, checks, and credit/debt cards are accepted.
Counseling sessions are covered by most health insurances in the Columbia area. A.B.L.E. takes care of billing insurance claims. It is your responsibility to know your health benefits but A.B.L.E.’s billing company can confirm benefit details. If you do not have insurance or an EAP on the following list ask about out-of-network benefits, single case exceptions, and self-pay options.
